Tips

Consistence and persistence are the keys to a healthy lawn. Enjoy the helpful tips below.

01

REGULAR QUARTERLY APPLICATIONS

Regular quarterly applications are the best solution to solving weed growth and maintaining a healthy lawn.

02

TALLER GRASS LENGTH

A good rule of thumb is to cut about 1/3 of your grass each time you mow. If you cut more than that at one time, you can yellow your grass and stress it out. Taller grass also shadows unwanted seeds from the sun, which makes weeds harder to germinate. In addition, it also develops stronger, deeper, grass roots. Taller grass tolorates heat better, absorbs more nutrients and grows thicker.

03

LEAVE THE CLIPPINGS

The top 1/3 of your grass blades decompose quickly and add beneficial organic matter to the soil. It also helps to keep moisture on the ground by slowing down evaporation.

04

WATER

Water deep and less often. This causes the roots to grow deeper, stronger and become more resiliant. As a rule of thumb, 1 inch of water on top will penetrate 4 to 6 inches into the soil.

05

EXPOSED SOIL

Exposed soil in your lawn is a sure recipe for weed growth. Minimize weed growth by planting grass in bare spots. This generally works best in the springtime when temperatures are lower. Grass seeds germinate best at soil temperatures around 65 degrees.
